| Setup Instructions Here are the instructions to setup PUB2 for tethered DSLR shooting. Step 1: Software must be installed to manage wireless USB connection. Just insert the Cables Unlimited CD and follow the instruction to install both the driver and 'Wireless USB Manager' Step 2: Install the needed software from either the camera manufacturer or a 3rd party developer. This software is an application that manages the photo transfer to the PC, and some can provide remote control over the camera settings. Click here for a list of available tethered shooting applications. Step 3: Plug the host wireless dongle into the computer's USB port. It is the L-shaped one. On Windows desktop tray (lower right corner for most people), a red wireless icon should appear to indicate it recognize the L shaped wireless dongle but does not have a connection yet. It will turn green once the other wireless dongle is powered up. Step 4: On PUB2's battery box switch it to 'OFF". Then insert four AA battery cells. Then connect PUB2 with the USB adapter (Female A to Male mini-B). Also insert the straight shaped wireless dongle. Step 5: Hook up PUB2 to your camera as shown in the below image. Insert PUB2 into the USB port on the camera. With the provided S type carabiner, clip the battery box to the loop in the camera strap or somewhere safe and secure. ![]() On the battery box, switch it to the 'ON' position. On your desktop or laptop computer, the Cables Unlimited wireless icon should turn green, as shown in the below image. If you open Wireless USB Manager, it too should show you have a connection. That's it! Turn on your camera. The computer should recognize your camera and should prompt you for the application you wish to open. You should select the application such as Nikon Capture Pro, Canon's EOS Utility or from a 3rd party developer (this software was installed in Step 2). If not, then you may need to manually launch the application. Once it is launched, you are ready to shoot and send to the computer. |
